Place in a learning sequence

Nothing definite here. Activities with TeXT Handler belong to a wider learning sequence et fulfil certain functions.
They may be a discovery or comprehension phase. Or take place at the end of a sequence as follow-up.
A number of patterns are possible.

Before or during tasks.

PHASE WHAT DOES THE LEARNER DO ? WHAT DOES TEXT HANDLER DO?
reading The learner reads the text, anticipating what his strategy will be. This phase can be skipped for immediate handling. TXTH allows for three reading modes
- free (no-time constraint)
- text scrolls
- words pop up and disappear in a random non linear order
filtering (selection of the words to be retrieved) An option allows the learner to build himself the list of words he will have to retrieve at a later stage. He builds his OWN strategy (the words he thinks he'll be able to retrieve relying on context, own knowledge, etc.) TXTH builds the list of word to be retrieved according to one of four modes
- interactive (learner's choice)
- predetermined (teacher's choice)
- automatic, based on word global category ("lexical" words, "grammatical" words, or both or finer categorization (forms of be, determiners, etc.)
- frequency (1 out of 5, etc.)
listening and viewing of a multimedia document ( advanced uses) He finds support in another document (of an audio or video nature) that he can handle while building his strategy. TXTH allows digital objects to be inserted in the workspace, such as audio clips , video clips, graphics, images, charts, chat rooms, Internet links, and so on ...
help   He resorts to TXTH to get some hints and clues rather than idle in a dead-end. TXTH can produce
- the list of words that haven't been found
- the "grammatical" category of the word
- the string of successive characters that make up the word
- the ending (-s, -ed, -ing)
TXTH can accept a number of "jokers".
